Rendered flower in vase. The pedals are made from blobs. The leaves are scanned in images of (real) leaves and then image mapped with an alpha transparent background.

Most of my images do not use image maps, only pure CSG and procedurally generated textures.

Overall, I prefer to use highly complex objects instead of image maps. (Feels like cheating otherwise)

Adding focal blur to an image drastically increases it's realism.

I use a lot of generative procedurial elements in my images.
